About PureSolid

From a rural village in China to the backyard of Adelaide

— a 35-year journey.

In 1996, my village finally had electricity.

By 2002, we had access to clean running water.

Those early years were marked by hardship yet overflowing with life. I remember helping my mother collect freshly laid eggs, neighbors borrowing rice and salt, and homeless wanderers knocking on our door for food. When we got our first black-and-white TV, our little courtyard turned into the village cinema that night.

Though material things were scarce, joy was abundant. We caught crayfish in the river, gathered leftover wheat from the fields, and made bookmarks from fallen ginkgo leaves. The yard wasn’t just a place—it was a whole world full of color, connection, and creativity.

As I grew, I moved from my village school to town, then to the city, and eventually to university. Life took me and my partner to Shanghai, full of ambition, but also high prices, small apartments, and stress. I often found myself missing the courtyard of my childhood—the trees, the dogs, the freedom.

Years later, we came to Australia seeking that same sky, that same peace. And in Adelaide, I finally found it again. That deep longing for a private outdoor space never left me.

So why do we need a backyard?

Because it’s not just a patch of grass—it’s a personal sanctuary. A place for kids to run free, for parents to gather around a barbecue, and for grandparents to tend to a garden. It’s where we connect with nature, where we decompress, where we build.

To me, a backyard with a fence is more than land— It’s identity. It’s freedom. It’s home.

But in recent years, Adelaide’s housing prices have surged by over 50%. Rent for a three-bedroom home can now reach $880 a week. Many people empty their wallets to buy a house, only to find that building a garden is financially out of reach.

We’ve been there. I still remember standing in the checkout line, staring at a cart full of groceries, hesitating over a tiny toy car I grabbed to cheer myself up.

That moment sparked our mission:

To build a brand that brings premium outdoor products to every family, without the premium price tag.

Introducing PureSolid

We visited seven manufacturers across China and partnered with the same factory that produces for Bunnings. We designed our boards specifically for the Australian climate, with extra-thick anti-UV layers that are over twice as durable as our competitors’.

Our WPC decking features a premium 55:35 wood fiber-to-HDPE ratio, providing a natural texture and a subtle wood scent. We supervise production and reject any flaws masked as “character,” ensuring perfect finishes.

To reduce costs, we introduced a 3D woodgrain hollow-core series and embraced a direct-to-consumer eCommerce model. No middlemen. Just great quality, fair prices, and honest service.

At PureSolid, we believe that everyone deserves a beautiful and functional backyard.
Not as a luxury, but as a way of life.
Pull up a chair, kick off your shoes, and rediscover the joy of your yard.
