Cleaning
Clean your deck immediately after installation and periodically as needed.
- Wash the deck with hot water and dishwashing liquid using a soft broom or mop.
- Rinse the deck; a garden hose is recommended.
Cleaning frequency varies based on product use, environment, and weather exposure. A general clean is recommended at least annually. Foreign substance stains should be cleaned immediately. Refer to the Care & Maintenance guide for more information.
Weathering
Your product is color-fast and UV-stabilized and will not lose its color. Like other outdoor building materials, a slight color shift may occur upon initial UV exposure. This may be noticeable in areas where pots, mats, or furniture have been left for extended periods. This is expected and not a product fault.
Storage & Handling
Your decking boards must be:
- Supported at least every 600mm on a level plane.
- Laid flat, especially during transport, and never at an angle.
- Never dropped or "dumped" when unloading.
- Stored on a flat, dry surface.
- Covered until ready for installation.
Static Electricity
All co-extruded composite decking, including your product, may accumulate static electricity under certain conditions, particularly in low humidity and dry environments. Other factors include subframe materials, earthing, and balustrading. This can be reduced with anti-static sprays (which may need reapplication after rain) or by using anti-static mats or insulating touch points. Static build-up typically decreases over time as the boards wear in. Your product does not warrant against static build-up.
Natural Variances & Colour
Your decking is made from a combination of reclaimed timber and new/recycled plastics, resulting in natural variations in color and tone between boards and batches.
- Before cutting or installing, lay out your boards to ensure an even mix of light and dark tones across the deck, preventing large blocks of single tones.
- Boards cannot be exchanged or returned once cut.
- If you do not accept the color or finish, do not cut or install the board.
- Reasonable variances in board dimensions are normal manufacturing tolerances and not product faults; allow for these during installation.
Cutting
For best results, use hardwood blades. A 60-80 tooth blade is recommended for a drop saw. If possible, delay trimming the length of boards until all are fastened, then trim them simultaneously for a uniform length.
Thermal Expansion & Contraction
Your decking expands and contracts with temperature changes, which is normal for wood plastic composites and not a product fault. This must be considered during installation.
- For decks up to 5.4m in length, full-length boards are recommended.
- For decks longer than 5.4m, use breaker boards.
Edge Board Installation
- Install the leading edge of the Edge Board using C-Clips.
- Align C-Clips correctly on the joists for the desired overhang.
- Install C-Clips on every joist, or every 450mm, using the supplied screws.
- Push the Edge Board into the C-Clips using the groove on the board's bottom.
- Continue fastening the Edge Board and deck using Quickfix (refer to the 'Fastening Boards' section).
Starting from a Step or Edge (Recommended)
For best results, start at the deck's edge and work back towards the wall/house. This ensures a full board at the most exposed edge/step and offers more options for finishing and fastening the leading edge and fascia.
- Begin by installing your Edge Board using C-Clips as described in the 'Edge Board Installation' section.
- Consult the Fascia fixings options and install fascia boards if appropriate.
- Start fastening boards using Standard and Locking Clips (refer to 'Fastening Boards' section).
